The present work has the main purpose of analyzing the situation of dairy production in the District of Paucarcolla and its participation in value chain in order to locate the advances and the difficulties. We used the type of descriptive research and the value chain approach. The results in the 7 communities with bovine breeding experience indicate that the total population of cattle is 2091 heads of cattle improved, of which 1204 are milking cows that represent 57.58% of the total. The communities with the largest population are in Inmaculada Concepción de Chingarani, Yanico Rumini and Santa Bárbara de Moro, with 16.4%, 13.58% and 10.09% of the total milking cow respectively; A total of 8.757 liters of milk per day were obtained, achieving an average of 7 l / v / d, overall, on average, each producer would be obtaining 11.23 MT of bovine milk. However, the chain of value is not the most adequate because there are deficiencies in the organizational level of the producers, and in the production of cheese, the production of fresh Andean type cheese predominates, with difficulties in generating new types or products. This situation allowed for the creation of strategies to improve the value chain, mainly in the generation of strategic alliances with public and private entities to promote the formation of organizations with decision-making capacity.
