Abstract

In this article we estimate the input-output matrix for Puno using an extrapolation method based upon the national input-output matrix and regional data. The exercise allows us to have a regional matrix that uncovers hierarchical relationships among sectors in term of product and employment multipliers which are potentially useful for the discussion on regional policies.  Based on these multipliers we map 17 sectors from the Puno economy to classify these according to their capacity to impact on regional product and employment.  We suggest some initial ideas for orienting regional policies for developing Puno based upon a path of higher dynamism, equity and sustainability in the medium and long run.
