Introduction: Human beings derive their sustenance from nature, therefore, they appropriate it
without measuring, until recently, the harmful consequences they cause to the environment. In
accordance with the above. Objective: of this paper is to give an account of the tasks performed
by leaders in terms of environmental protection and conservation. Methodology: is of deductive
type with analysis of documents and support in the work of different writers and researchers and
a description is made of different types of leadership and of the commitment in which they are
immersed to develop ideas that materialize in an excellent management that results in the
conservation and protection of nature. Conclusion: the importance of Environmental
Management and the incidence that in the most recent decades has marked a course tending to
generate environmental indicators that show the positive impact in the construction of a
sustainable planet in time is highlighted. It also emphasizes the relevance of Environmental
Management Systems that seek, through their correct application, that the different organizations
that use the natural environment and generate economic and social development be consistent
with the generation of actions that mitigate the damage that this development produces in the
ecosystem.
